As the final season of Stranger Things approaches, the cast faces real-life drama.
Just as enthusiastic fans are preparing for the dramatic conclusion to Stranger Things, real-world drama is stealing the spotlight. Just weeks before Volume 1 drops on November 26, 2025, the cast is in the middle of very real controversies, calls to boycott, emotional farewells, and recasting events
Actor Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, has been embroiled in controversy after he liked an Instagram story with pro-Israel stickers (“Hamas is ISIS,” “Zionism is Sexy”). The post prompted millions of unfollows and threats of boycotts
Fans are split: some want Schnapp to be dropped; others say his storyline is too important to the character. Netflix reportedly kept him on, stating that Will is a pivotal part of Season 5.
Schnapp contends his views were misinterpreted and that he wants “peace and safety… for all innocent people”
On a different turn, Argyle actor Eduardo Franco states that he did not receive a call or offer to appear in Season 5. Since Argyle was mostly in the California scenes and the finale is Hawkins-based, it’s possible they just cut him from the show, but plenty of fans declared that Netflix was “unprofessional” for choosing to just silently ghost him.
The actor who portrayed the malevolent Vecna, Jamie Campbell Bower, has stated that the dark story and lengthy FX makeup were mentally draining for him, so much so, he went to therapy afterward. He’s ready to drop the veneer of the villain for Season 5.
However, that did not mean it was all tear-jerkers. On one of the Awards nights, Millie, Gaten & Caleb hilariously served PB&J to nominees on the stage, and a few guests still claimed the sandwiches were “too dry.” High-brow food review: Chef Tom Colicchio declared it a “good balance…but dry bread”.
With controversies, cast departures, therapy-bound villains, and sentimental endings, Stranger Things Season 5 promises to be as packed with flavor behind the camera as it is set in Hawkins.
